Catastrophe: Life’s Interruptions Can Happen in an Instant!
October 17, 2016

Greetings,

Catastrophe:  I have been a professional medical writer and author for three decades, writing health and lifestyle articles for popular magazines and websites. Also, I am the author or ghostwriter of 93 health trade books on a broad range of common conditions. Even though I have researched and written on many life-threatening conditions such as cancer, heart disease and diabetes, I had never heard about our two catastrophic events—a traumatic brain bleed from a workplace injury at Cisco Systems Atlanta for Bob–and just a few months later – flesh eating bacteria (Group A Strep) after cutting my leg on our swimming pool for me.

Abundant Life Lessons

I am sharing this blog to give you a glimpse of how I dealt with this  catastrophe. I will tell you about the abundant life lessons I learned on the way and how they presented me with a deeper understanding of the human spirit. While inherently sad, this story is actually one of great hope, tremendous courage and ultimate resilience. It shows the unsuspected reserve of strength we all have when life’s emergencies put us to the test. And there’s more to come.
